Jose is a native South Floridian and joins the firm after serving as general counsel and vice president of legal affairs for a national private aviation brokering company. He graduated from Florida International University with his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1990, and earned his Juris Doctorate from St. Thomas University Law School in 1993.
Jose is admitted to practice in the Florida Courts and in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, and has appeared as pro hac vice counsel in several U.S. District Courts throughout the country. Professionally, he is a member of the Dade County Bar Association and the Cuban American Bar Association, where he serves as Co-Chair of the Civility/Professionalism Committee. Jose is also a member of the Broward County Hispanic Lawyer’s Association.
Jose’s legal experience has included a broad range of work with contract law, franchising, commercial leasing, non-compete agreements, employment contracts, and litigation in civil, commercial, corporate, debtor-creditor, and real estate law, including appellate practice, as well as two years as a federal staff attorney for the Pro Se Civil Rights and Habeas Corpus Division of the U.S. District Court Southern District of Florida. Additionally, he has worked as a professor/instructor within the legal disciplines at several South Florida colleges and universities. Jose is currently practicing in the firm’s commercial litigation department.
When he is not practicing law, Jose enjoys coaching in local youth baseball leagues for children ages 4-7 and is currently an assistant coach for the Youth T-Ball and Baseball Leagues at Tamiami Park
